Uzbekistan–Hungary Joint Applied Research Project “Supporting Organic and Conventional Farming through Geospatial Methods”
This project is an international joint
applied research initiative implemented within the framework of scientific and
technological cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hungary, aimed at introducing
modern geospatial technologies into agriculture. The project is being carried
out during 2023–2026 and is funded by the Innovation Development Agency of the
Republic of Uzbekistan and the National Research, Development and Innovation
Fund of Hungary.
Within the framework of the project,
researchers from TIIAME National Research University and University of
Nyíregyháza are conducting collaborative scientific research. The main research
directions focus on improving the efficiency of organic and conventional
farming through the integration of Remote Sensing (RS), Geographic Information
Systems (GIS), Geo-AI, meteorological data, and field observations.
The main objective of the project is to
monitor agricultural land conditions, assess soil and crop status, ensure
efficient use of water resources, and develop climate-resilient smart
agricultural technologies.
Within the project framework, scientific
and practical activities are being carried out in the following areas:
Ø crop monitoring based on satellite data;
Ø application of GIS and geospatial analysis methods;
Ø use of Geo-AI and machine learning techniques;
Ø assessment of conventional farming systems;
Ø field experiments and laboratory research;
Ø organization of international training programs and scientific
seminars.
As a result of the project, it is expected
to improve the efficiency of digital technology applications in agriculture,
develop geoinformation platforms supporting farmers’ decision-making, and
produce scientific recommendations for sustainable agricultural development.
In addition, international training
programs, scientific exchanges, and professional development activities for
young researchers and specialists are being organized in higher education
institutions of Hungary within the framework of the project. This contributes
to strengthening scientific cooperation between Uzbekistan and Hungary.
