Sustainable Food Purchases
TIIAME National Research
University (TIIAME NRU) prioritizes the purchase of products from local and
sustainable sources as part of its commitment to supporting regional farmers,
promoting sustainable agriculture, and contributing to local economies. The
university actively sources food and agricultural products for its canteens and
other facilities from local producers to ensure freshness and quality,
while also reducing the carbon footprint associated with transporting goods
over long distances.
Additionally, the university's Educational
Experimental Farm is a key component in promoting sustainable farming
practices. Products grown on the farm, including organic vegetables and fruits,
are used in the university's canteens, offering students and staff healthy and
sustainable food options. The farm also serves as a learning platform for local
farmers, teaching them modern and eco-friendly agricultural techniques.
Fresh Produce Distribution: Fruits from the university's "Educational Experimental Farm" (EEF) are distributed free of charge to employees. Additionally, vegetables and fruits are offered at significantly lower prices than market rates, promoting access to affordable, healthy food.
Through these efforts, TIIAME
NRU not only supports local, sustainable sources but also
contributes to food security and the promotion of eco-friendly
agricultural practices in the region.
