Student Food Insecurity and Hunger
Student Canteen at
TIIAME National Research University
The Student
Canteen at TIIAME National Research University (TIIAME NRU) is designed to
provide affordable and high-quality meals for students and staff. The canteen
includes a large hall for 400 students, a smaller hall for 60
teachers and staff, and a summer canteen that can accommodate 200
students and staff.
To ensure the
best possible dining experience, the university has partnered with established
food service providers who have years of experience in the industry. The
canteen staff includes skilled chefs and experienced kitchen staff who
are specially trained to prepare and serve meals that meet the highest
standards of quality and nutrition.
Quality Control
and Hygiene
In line with the
Government Decree No. 184 from August 20, 2010, regarding the
organization of healthy eating in educational institutions, TIIAME NRU ensures
that the quality, safety, and storage of food products in its student
canteens adhere to strict sanitary and hygiene standards. A dedicated permanent
commission, consisting of university staff and overseen by the university's
Labor Union, is responsible for inspecting food quality and ensuring
that all products meet health standards.
Subsidized Meals
and Support for Vulnerable Students
To support
students in need, the university provides subsidized meal vouchers
ranging from 30% to 50% discounts for students on the “Iron Register”
list, as well as social support for professors and staff in need. Additionally,
free lunch is provided to socially vulnerable students,
particularly those who reside in student dormitories or are registered in the “Women's
Register”.
Catering for
Conferences and Events
The Student Canteen also plays an essential role in hosting local and international delegates during various university events. The canteen team prepares national and European dishes for conferences, coffee breaks, and lunches, ensuring that all visitors receive top-quality service during their stay at the university.
