Doctoral student of "TIIAME'National Research University participated as a speaker at the Belt and Road International Forum in Nanjing

From September 2 to 4, 2026, the Second Belt and Road Forum on People-to-People Connectivity was held in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province, the People’s Republic of China. The forum was organized by the Western Returned Scholars Association (WRSA) under the theme “Bridging Hearts Along the Silk Road, Forging Consensus in Nanjing - Strengthening People-to-People Connectivity for a Shared Belt and Road Community.” More than 150 representatives from government, diplomatic, business, and academic circles of Belt and Road partner countries participated in the event.
At this prestigious international event, Khumora Abdumominovna Jalilova, a PhD student at the Department of Hydraulics and Hydroinformatics of the “TIIAME” National Research University participated as an invited speaker.
As part of the forum, Khumora Jalilova delivered a presentation during the second parallel session, “People’s Well-being and Industrial Cooperation: The Human-Centred Impact of ‘Small and Beautiful’ Projects.” In her presentation, “Smart and Sustainable Water Management for Agricultural Development: Small Projects, Big Impact,” she presented to the international audience Uzbekistan’s ongoing efforts to improve the efficient management of agricultural water resources, introduce digital technologies, GIS and remote sensing, promote water-saving irrigation technologies, and translate scientific developments into practical applications. Her participation as a speaker in the second parallel session was also specified in the forum’s official invitation.
The three-day visit extended beyond her participation as a speaker. The forum also served as an important platform for expanding the international academic ties of the National Research University “TIIAME,” discussing new areas of cooperation, and developing professional networks. In particular, during the visit, academic discussions were held with representatives and institutional leaders of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, focusing on potential future cooperation in water resources management, modern irrigation technologies, digitalization, and joint research.
New professional contacts were also established with scientists, specialists, and forum participants from various provinces of China, Malaysia, and African countries. Discussions focused on opportunities for conducting joint scientific research, collaborating on international projects, exchanging expertise, promoting academic mobility, and preparing joint scientific publications.
In addition to academic and professional networking, the forum’s program addressed people-to-people connectivity, youth cooperation, intercultural exchange, and the development of practical cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. The main program of the forum included an opening ceremony, keynote presentations, and three parallel sessions held on September 3.
The participation of a representative of the National Research University “TIIAME” as a speaker at this international forum, the presentation of Uzbekistan’s experience to an international audience, and the establishment of new academic connections during the visit will contribute to strengthening the university’s international profile, expanding the geographical scope of its scientific cooperation, and creating new opportunities for future joint projects.
