Professional Internship: students study melioration facilities in Yangiariq district

Students enrolled in the dual education program are undertaking their professional internships directly in field conditions, gaining practical experience through hands-on training.
Together with Shakhhzod Jumanazarov, the official attached to the Scientific Adviser to the Governor of Khorezm Region, the students visited the "Ozyorniy" Main Collector, a key hydraulic engineering facility operated by the Melioration Expedition under the "Chapqirgoq Amudaryo" Irrigation System Basin Administration (ISBA). During the visit, they gained first-hand knowledge of the facility's operating principles and its role in improving the meliorative condition of the region.
As part of the visit, students learned that the hydraulic structure located at PK 663+00 of the "Ozyorniy" Main Collector was constructed in 1971 and currently serves to maintain the stable meliorative condition of 59,132 hectares of agricultural land. They also studied the facility's key technical characteristics, including its water discharge capacity of 17.5 m³/s, the upstream bed elevation of 88.52 meters, and the downstream bed elevation of 82.27 meters.
During the internship, students not only examined the technical specifications of hydraulic engineering structures but also became acquainted with ongoing research on the application of water-saving technologies in sandy soils, the selection of suitable crop varieties, and measures to prevent soil salinization. Such practical training plays a vital role in strengthening students' professional knowledge and developing their scientific and analytical skills, preparing them for future careers in the field.
