Uzbekistan–South Korea GSL(Global Service Learning) Summer School was successfully completed at the KOICA Vocational Training Center in Samarkand

The 2026 GSL (Global Service Learning) Summer School, organized under the Leading University Project for International Cooperation (LUPIC) between "Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers" National Research University and Keimyung College University (South Korea), was successfully completed at the KOICA Vocational Training Center in Samarkand.
The summer school, held under the theme "Learn to Share, Share to Learn," was designed to enhance the professional competencies of faculty members and students, promote the adoption of modern educational technologies, and strengthen academic cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea. Throughout the seminar and training sessions, participants gained practical knowledge and skills in digital pedagogy, Project-Based Learning (PBL), information technology, web design, and other innovative fields.
As part of the program, participants were warmly welcomed by Ismoil Ergashev, Director of the KOICA Vocational Training Center. Faculty members and students from Keimyung College University and TIIAME National Research University had the opportunity to explore the center's activities, modern educational facilities, innovative laboratories, and learning environments dedicated to engineering, information technology, visual design, and vocational education. The visit left a strong impression on the participants and served as an excellent platform for exchanging experiences and best practices.
During the program, representatives of the LUPIC project team from TIIAME National Research University, led by Guzal Eshchanova, DEISC Coordinator and LUPIC project member, actively participated in the seminar-training sessions. The team, including A. Nigmatov (DEISC Assistant), S. Rakhmatullayev, Y. Cholliyev, and A. Orifjonov, successfully enhanced their professional knowledge and acquired valuable practical skills in contemporary educational approaches.
To introduce participants to the rich historical and cultural heritage of Samarkand, a cultural excursion was also organized. Students and faculty members from Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea visited some of the city's most iconic landmarks, including Registan Square, the Guri-Amir Mausoleum, the Shahi-Zinda Complex, the Bibi-Khanym Mosque, the Ulughbek Observatory, and other notable historical sites. The tour provided participants with an opportunity to experience unique historical atmosphere in Samarkand and gain a deeper appreciation of Uzbekistan's cultural heritage.
This project represents another significant milestone in strengthening educational cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea, expanding opportunities for international academic exchange, and promoting the development of innovative and digital education at the university.
