Visit to the Yucheng Station of the Chinese Academy of Sciences
14.05.2026
As part of an internship program in China, master’s students of the “Hydraulics and Hydroinformatics” Department of the National Research University “Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers” participated in an educational exchange visit to the Yucheng National Field Observation and Research Station of Agro-Ecosystem and the Yucheng Comprehensive Experimental Station (Yucheng Station) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, located in Shandong Province, China.
The students were accompanied and guided through the station by Professor Li Fadong. Professor Li introduced in detail the soil carbon and nitrogen water in-situ observation sites, water and carbon flux monitoring areas, long-term soil nutrient balance experimental fields, meteorological observation sites, surface water evaporation measurement areas, and the integrated simulation device for key agro-ecosystem processes involving surface water and groundwater (GAS experimental station, Yucheng Station). He also explained the working principles of various instruments and equipment located at the GAS experimental station and the different observation technologies used.he students were accompanied and guided through the station by Professor Li Fadong. Professor Li Fadong also provided detailed information about the overall structure of the Chinese Academy of Sciences University, its faculty composition, and the system for training international personnel. At the same time, he presented the history, development status, staff structure, and major achievements of the Yucheng Station.
During the visit, the students were also introduced to the Yellow River, one of the two largest rivers in China. According to information, the Yellow River called “Huang He” in Chinese is considered the starting point of the Great Silk Road. It is a major river in eastern China. As it plays a key role in agriculture, the students also became familiar with hydraulic engineering structures located in the region.
This practical training became a valuable experience in the academic development of the master’s students. It will further contribute to enhancing their knowledge and practical skills in the future.
