A Significant step towards International Cooperation at “TIIAME” National Research University

On May 13, 2026 an official meeting was held at the “TIIAME” National Research University with distinguished scholars from Quaid-i-Azam University— Academic Professor Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad and Professor Dr. Shazia Sultana.
The meeting was attended by the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs, Professor Bakhtiyor Khudayarov, Head of the Soil Science Department Obid Khaqberdiyev, Head of the International Office Sherzod Rakhmonov, and Associate Professor of the English Department Guzal Eshchanova.
At the beginning of the meeting, Vice-Rector Professor Bakhtiyor Khudayarov presented an overview of the university’s activities, international relations, scientific potential, and opportunities created for students.
Afterwards, discussions were held on strengthening scientific and academic cooperation between the two countries and universities, including signing a memorandum of understanding, organizing international lectures for professors and graduate students, and sending students for internships and academic exchange programs.
It is worth noting that Quaid-i-Azam University is one of the world’s leading higher education institutions, ranked 354th in the QS World University Rankings and 401st in the Times Higher Education rankings.
Academic Professor Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad currently serves as the Director of the Quaid-i-Azam University Botanical Garden and Herbarium (ISL). He is a globally recognized expert in medicinal plants, traditional Chinese medicine, agrobiology, biodiversity, and the impact of climate change on ecosystems.
He is a TWAS-UNESCO, PIFI-CAS, and PAS fellow, and holds honorary professorships in both China and Uzbekistan. The professor has approximately 1,000 scientific publications, more than 60 international books and book chapters, over 24,000 citations, and an H-index of 80.
Professor Mushtaq Ahmad has supervised 47 PhD and postdoctoral researchers and more than 180 master’s students and researchers. He is a recipient of several prestigious international awards, including “Tamgha-e-Imtiaz”, “High Foreign Talent Award”, and “International Scientist Award”.
Professor Dr. Shazia Sultana is an internationally recognized scientist working in the fields of agro-biodiversity, bioenergy, and ecology. Her research has gained global recognition, and she has an H-index of 61 and is ranked among the top 1% of scientists worldwide.
The guests also visited the Biology Department located in Building A, where they observed laboratories, research activities, and student facilities, and highly appreciated the conditions created for scientific work.
The meeting was held in a friendly and warm atmosphere, and it was emphasized that it would contribute to taking scientific, academic, and innovative cooperation between the two universities to a new level in the future.
