Within the framework of ensuring the execution of tasks set by Resolution No. PD-122 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated April 2, 2026, a meeting was held focusing on scientific solutions. It was attended by O. Qahhorov, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor at the “TIIAME” National Research University, and scientific advisor to the regional governor on agriculture and water management; F. Siddiqov, head of the Amu–Kashkadarya Basin Administration; B. Joraev, head of the regional branch of the Agency for Management Efficiency; as well as sector specialists from local areas.

In the “Roadmap” aimed at scientific solutions for water management activities in the Kashkadarya region, a total of 9 priority areas for 2026 were identified, including:
– saving a total of 538 million m³ of water (215 million m³ through water-saving technologies and 323 million m³ through irrigation network repairs and related measures);
– out of 2,500 km of existing canals, 903 km are earthen channels; in 2026, a total of 779 km will be concreted (including 108 km of main and inter-district canals, 187 km of internal canals, and 484 km of farmer and cluster canals);
– introducing water-saving technologies on 47.6 thousand hectares (including 16.7 thousand ha drip irrigation, 5.3 thousand ha sprinkler irrigation, 3.8 thousand ha discrete irrigation, and 21.8 thousand ha other methods);
– reducing saline land areas by 1.2 thousand hectares;
– saving 30 million kWh of electricity by replacing 18 pump units and electric motors;
– transferring 5 pumping stations to private partners under public-private partnership, resulting in savings of 13 million kWh of electricity;
– launching projects to construct closed water supply networks: 139 km from the Pachkamar reservoir and 50 km from the Kamashi reservoir, bringing 16 thousand hectares of land back into use and restoring 1 thousand hectares of pastureland.
