Opportunities for forming additional Water Resources in Nurota mountain range are being studied

Within the framework of the implementation of Resolution No. 122 of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and in accordance with the approved “Roadmap,” scientific and practical studies have been conducted to explore opportunities for creating additional water reserves in Nurota mountain ranges. The aim of these efforts is to improve agricultural productivity and drinking water supply.
The study involved the Governor of Nurota district, A. Fayziev, Professor A. Fatkhulloev of the “TIIAME” National Research University, as well as specialists from relevant sectoral organizations.
During the research, floodwater reservoirs, zones of mudflow formation, and the use of groundwater resources were scientifically analyzed. The sources of water resource formation, their territorial distribution, and the efficiency of their use were also assessed.
The analysis revealed that mudflow waters formed in mountainous areas are not being fully utilized, and that protective and regulating hydraulic structures are insufficiently developed. This situation limits the effective use of water resources.

At the same time, it was noted that the declining level of groundwater is creating additional challenges in supplying the population with drinking water and meeting agricultural water needs.
As a result of the study, scientifically grounded proposals were developed aimed at regulating mudflows, reducing their negative impact, and forming additional water reserves through water accumulation. These proposals include the construction of small-scale water infrastructure facilities.
