Uzbekistan-Hungary Cooperation enters a New Stage: Meeting with the Óbuda University Delegation

On the eve of the Third Uzbekistan-Hungary Rectors’ Forum, planned to be held in Samarkand, the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Uzbekistan, Qongirotboy Sharipov, held an official meeting with the Rector of Óbuda University, Levente Kovach.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed expanding cooperation in higher education, science, and innovation, launching joint academic programs, and developing academic exchange between the two countries.
They also identified as priority areas:
Training highly qualified engineering specialists
Supporting scientific research
Introducing digital technologies and artificial intelligence solutions into the educational process
Special attention was given to joint initiatives in the Jizzakh region, particularly the development of technoparks and innovative projects. It was noted that more than 20 inter-university agreements are expected to be signed within the framework of the forum.
Practical Dialogue with Universities
Following the ministerial meeting, a separate session was organized between the Óbuda University delegation and representatives of Uzbekistan’s higher education institutions. This dialogue served as a logical continuation of the earlier negotiations.

Main Areas of Discussion
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on:
Providing engineering students with the opportunity to study at Óbuda University for one academic year at the Bachelor’s and Master’s levels
Organizing student internships at the Science Park established in Jizzakh under the sponsorship of Óbuda University
Implementing joint engineering developments and startup projects
Launching joint educational programs and double-degree tracks
The parties placed particular emphasis on effectively utilizing Jizzakh’s innovative infrastructure and enhancing technology transfer mechanisms.
Representing the "TIIAME" National Research University, Head of the International Department Sherzod Rakhmonov and Associate Professor of the English Department, who works closely with Obuda university Guzal Eshchanova, actively participated in the discussions, presenting proposals to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and expand mutual student exchange programs.At the end of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness to:
Develop a clear roadmap for cooperation
Gradually implement student exchange programs
Expand joint scientific and practical projects
This dialogue is expected to elevate cooperation in higher education between Uzbekistan and Hungary to a new stage.
