In the framework of the "Enlightenment against ignorance"event

As part of the event titled “Enlightenment Against Ignorance,” on February 18, 2026 a meeting was held with the participation of students from the Faculty of "Hydrrotechnical Construction", “Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers” National Research University.
During the event, J. Meliqoziyev, a representative of the Committee on Religious Affairs, emphasized that the rapid pace of globalization today is creating conditions for the increasing intensification of ideological and ideological–political threats worldwide. The accelerating process of globalization is laying the groundwork for the growing escalation of such threats on a global scale.
In such circumstances, paying attention to spirituality and enlightenment is of great importance in preserving peace and stability. As the Head of our State has emphasized: “We consider work in the sphere of spirituality and enlightenment to be a matter of patriotism, a matter of conscience. A person with conscience and spirituality will certainly love the Motherland. Conscience and spirituality mean serving the people and the Motherland with all one’s heart.
The fact that such views are being widely and enthusiastically supported by our entire nation, especially by our youth, demonstrates how relevant and vital spiritual education is.”
Understanding that preserving our great spirituality reflecting the mentality of our nation and people is a matter of our people’s destiny, future, and survival is an extremely important task. In the era of globalization, the alarming situations emerging around the world make ensuring peace, security, and stability especially significant. The intensification of sharp ideological struggles on a global scale, clashes of various ideologies, and attempts to promote malicious ideas disguised under the attractive slogans of democracy or different religious teachings are increasingly on the rise. The existence of threats such as extremism, terrorism, fanaticism, and drug trafficking—seeking to seriously undermine global security and stability requires serious reflection. The growing dangers, bloody conflicts, political and economic confrontations, and the escalation of terrorism and radicalism are posing serious threats to peace and stability.
Today, the most effective way to combat radicalization is through the approach of “enlightenment against ignorance.” This method is widely used in advanced foreign countries. It is recognized that correcting an individual’s misguided views is an educational and rational method of combating extremism and terrorism. Organizing activities based on the principle of “enlightenment against ignorance” fosters mutual understanding within society and plays a distinctive role in ensuring peace and stability.
As a result of the event, the students drew appropriate conclusions for themselves. J. Meliqoziyev answered the questions posed by the students.
