On January 26-28, 2026 an international seminar was held in the city of Shymkent, Republic of Kazakhstan, organized at the initiative of the Executive Committee of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (EC IFAS).
The seminar was attended by J. Ishchanov, Dean of "Hydromelioration" Faculty, and A. Inamov, Dean of the Faculty of Land Resources and Cadastre, from the “TIIAME” National Research University.
The seminar was conducted within the framework of the project titled “Improving the Methodology of Hydromodule Zoning Mapping in the Syr Darya River Basin Area Using Remote Sensing and Satellite Technologies,” which is being implemented with grant funding from the French Development Agency (AFD).
During the seminar, participants discussed issues related to the efficient use of water resources in the territories of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan, improvement of irrigation regimes, updating hydromodule zoning under climate change conditions, and the use of remote sensing data.
As part of the project led by Professor M. Hamidov, university scholars delivered a presentation on scientific research conducted in Uzbekistan on hydromodule zoning and the innovative methodology developed. Digital electronic maps created using GIS technologies were also demonstrated.
The results of this research were highly appreciated by the participants, who emphasized that they would contribute to further strengthening scientific cooperation between the two countries.
