IELTS Preparation Course has started for students from Tukrmenistan at our University

We are pleased to announce that the IELTS preparation course officially began its activities on November 29, 2025. The course is designed for the first-year Turkmen students of the “TIIAME” National Research University, and participants will develop all key IELTS skills: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking.
Within the framework of this course, students will have access to the following British Council resources:
• IELTS Ready Premium learning platform
• Mock IELTS Tests
• Pre-tests
The course is organized by Associate Professor Guzal Eshchanova of “English Language” Department, trainer of “Professional Development Centre”, a joint initiative of the British Council and the “TIIAME” National Research University. Classes are held in Room 226 of of "Economics" Faculty.
At the opening ceremony, Vice Deans of "Economics" Faculty Umrzoq Kholiyorov and Khursand Rozmetov, addressed the students, providing detailed information about the importance, opportunities, and advantages of learning a foreign language.
First Lesson of the Course
The lesson was conducted successfully, and students began their initial practical exercises for IELTS. The following Turkmen students participated in the session:

Methodological Approaches used in the lesson
1. Communicative Language Teaching (CLT)
• Greetings, introductions, simple dialogues — real-life communication scenarios
• Pair work to encourage active spoken interaction
2. Scaffolded Learning (Step-by-step language development)
• Simplified vocabulary lists (Greetings, Personal information, Family)
• Translation flashcards: English → Uzbek → Turkmen → Russian
• Step-by-step reinforcement through “Fill in the gaps,” “Match,” and “True/False” activities
3. PPP Model: Presentation – Practice – Production
• Presentation: new vocabulary and expressions were introduced; model dialogues were demonstrated
• Practice: translation cards, Q&A, True/False, Matching exercises
• Production: students created their own “Introduce yourself” statements and practiced in pairs
4. Skills Integration
• Integrating Speaking and Reading skills to prepare learners for IELTS
5. Learner-Centered Approach
• Pair and group activities
• Students communicate freely, learn from each other, while the teacher acts as a facilitator
Student engagement
Turkmen students at the “TIIAME” National Research University showed high activity, interest, and motivation during today’s session. From the very first lesson, they actively participated in introductions, greetings, and simple dialogues, demonstrating a strong desire to learn the language more deeply.

At the end of the session, students were informed of the following:
