Olympic town – the cradle of champions

#News from the press service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan

In Uzbekistan, when we speak of sport, we imagine not only training halls, but also the dreams in people’s hearts, the willpower, and the pursuit of victory. On this path, the modern “Olympic” Sports Town, built in our country, has rightfully become a source of scientific and practical support for our athletes – a true cradle of champions. In other words, it is the scientific and practical center of sport.

Currently, Olympic Town is recognized not only as a sports complex, but also as a place where science and practice are harmoniously combined. Here, young athletes not only train in modern conditions but are also studied and analyzed by scientists and specialists. Every result, every achievement is the product of deep analysis, rigorous training, and scientific approach.

On August 18,2025  President Shavkat Mirziyoyev made a visit the newly completed Olympic Town in Tashkent. Its foundation stone was laid on November 9, 2022. At that time, our head of state emphasized that Olympic Town should become a symbol of the great creative potential of our people and the global achievements of Uzbek sport – a modern complex that is architecturally perfect, energy-efficient, and embodies the most advanced innovative solutions.

And so it happened – in a short time, a magnificent complex rose on more than 100 hectares. This unique project, worth nearly 290 million dollars, was implemented by CAMC Engineering in full compliance with international standards.

The main advantage of the center is the existence of a system that provides comprehensive support for athletes. Here, there are stadiums, swimming pools, wrestling halls, modern medical rehabilitation centers, sports psychology and biomechanics laboratories. In short, all the conditions necessary for an athlete to achieve victory have been created.

Olympic Town is a place of dreams for the youth. In the eyes of every young man and woman training here, one can see a bright future and the pride of bringing honor to the Motherland. Each training session reflects willpower; each competition radiates confidence in victory.

Therefore, Olympic Town should not be seen merely as a sports facility, but as a place where science, hard work, and dreams are united. Every champion emerging from here becomes an ambassador introducing our nation’s honor to the world.

At the opening, our head of state said: “Along with training, sport education, science, and medicine must be integrated here. This place will become the scientific, practical, and educational-training center of our country’s sport.”

The President also held discussions with officials of the field and leaders of sports federations.

"First of all, I congratulate our athletes and federations on having such a facility. With this, we have laid a strong foundation for the health of the younger generation and for future achievements. But this is the easy part. The more difficult task is to popularize sports and to train professional athletes. We will continue to develop sport both from the perspective of health and from the perspective of results. God willing, such Olympic Towns will also be built in the regions. The main goal is the health and well-rounded development of our youth," said the head of state.

The main objective is to create a solid and sustainable foundation for high sporting results – not just for a single Olympics, but permanently. The President placed special emphasis on the popularization of sports.

It must be noted that Olympic Town is truly destined to become a cradle of champions where science and practice meet.

Sport is a path that celebrates a person’s strength, willpower, aspiration, and determination. On this path, not only training but also science plays a crucial role. The modern Olympic Sports Town built in our country has become the heart of our sports movement precisely as a center uniting these two powers – science and practice.

Here, the harmony of science and sport is emphasized. In Olympic Town, the athlete is not limited to training alone. For example: biomechanics laboratories analyze movement techniques; sports physiology research examines the effects of workloads on health; psychological centers prepare athletes mentally for competition, and so on.

Such a scientific approach serves to fully unlock the personal potential of each athlete and to raise results to a higher level.

The town is equipped with sports facilities that meet international standards. It includes: a modern stadium for athletics, swimming pools, wrestling and boxing halls, football, gymnastics, and tennis courts.

These opportunities, together with the dedication and hard work of young people, create the foundation for producing Olympic and world champions, and serve as a source of inspiration for youth. In other words, if it is appropriate to say so, Olympic Town is a “factory of dreams.” In the eyes of every youth training here shine pride and the promise of the future. They develop not only as athletes but also as healthy, spiritually mature, and patriotic individuals.

As our President emphasized: “Bravery and competitiveness are in the blood of our people. Our people love sport. We must support this and further promote sport in neighborhoods.”

Olympic Town is not just a sports complex. It is a modern school where science, practice, and dreams unite. The champions nurtured here will raise the honor of our Motherland not only in Uzbekistan but also on the world sports stage. It is a “factory of victories,” a high-level school where strength, endurance, patience, and knowledge come together. Every athlete who grows up here will undoubtedly become the pride of our people and the great honor of our Motherland.
