Internationalization is one of the key priority areas in the activities of Higher Education Institutions

During the visit of Professor Ilhom Begmatov, Head of the “Irrigation and Melioration” Department at “Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers” National Research University, to the St. Petersburg State Agrarian University , a meeting was held with the university leadership. Attendees included Roman Olegovich Kolesnikov, Vice-Rector for Scientific, Innovation, and International Affairs and Candidate of Veterinary Sciences; Sergey Ivanovich Lugovskoy, Director of the Educational and Methodological Center, Candidate of Economic Sciences, Associate Professor; and Aleksandr Alekseevich Petrov, Director of the Institute of Construction, Environmental Improvement, and Landscape Architecture at SPbSAU, Professor, Doctor of Economic Sciences, and Candidate of Technical Sciences.
Representatives of both universities provided information about their institutions and exchanged views on activities carried out in various areas. Both universities have rich histories: last year, SPbSAU celebrated its 120th anniversary, while "TIIAME" National Research University marked its 90th anniversary.
During the discussion, Professor Petrov shared that in the 2025–2026 academic year, the Institute of Construction, Environmental Improvement, and Landscape Architecture at SPbSAU will launch a new regional bachelor’s program in “Hydraulic Reclamation” (Hydromelioration) and begin accepting students.
Recognizing the high qualification level and accumulated international experience of the faculty at "TIIAME" National Research University, Professor Petrov expressed interest in cooperating with colleagues from "TIIAME" on academic programs.
Professor Begmatov emphasized that international cooperation opens up many prospects for both universities. Internationalization strengthens scientific relations and creates potential for joint programs and projects in various fields, including joint educational programs, student exchange initiatives, and collaborative scientific research development.
