#News from the press service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan

It is often said that a neighbor is a kindred spirit. By asking each other how things are going, rejoicing in their achievements, and sharing experiences, we strengthen the sense of attachment and mutual cooperation. The ancient and eternal friendship between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan reinforces mutual collaboration.

It is expected that the informal meeting between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, which took place in Almaty on March 29, will also pave the way for future cooperation.

The main focus was on expanding cooperation in the fields of trade, industrial cooperation, transportation and logistics, energy, agriculture and water management, as well as continuing active interregional contacts and cultural and humanitarian exchanges.

As you may recall, a similar bilateral meeting between the leaders of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan took place in early April of last year in Khiva.

This time, with the participation of delegations from both countries, the issues of steadily strengthening Uzbek-Kazakh relations of good-neighborliness, strategic partnership, and alliance were thoroughly discussed. The promising areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan include the following main directions.

Trade and Economic Cooperation: It is planned to increase the trade turnover between the two countries to 10 billion dollars. In this regard, it is important to increase the trade turnover by creating free trade zones and simplifying customs procedures.

Also, the creation of joint ventures in the fields of machine engineering, automobile manufacturing, textile industry, construction materials production, as well as the implementation of innovative projects in electronics and high technologies, should be noted.

Currently, relevant issues include the development of gas and oil product supplies from Kazakhstan to Uzbekistan, as well as the implementation of joint projects in the field of renewable energy sources (solar and wind energy).

The issue of transportation and logistics, the development of the international freight transportation system through the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor. The opening of new transport routes along the route Uzbekistan – Kazakhstan – Russia – Europe. Cultural and humanitarian cooperation is as important as the improvement of border logistics centers and railway infrastructure.

Also of great significance is the development of educational exchange programs between the universities of the two countries.

Such directions will undoubtedly serve to further strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries.
