Internship monitoring: integration of theory and practice

Professor B. Matyakubov of "TIIAME" National Research University visited project sites in Yangibozor and Gurlan districts of Khorezm Region to learn more about the internship activities of students undertaking practical training under the dual education system.
The main purpose of the visit was to observe how students apply the theoretical knowledge they have gained in the classroom under real production and field conditions, as well as to provide them with appropriate guidance and support.
During the visit, discussions were held with the students about the work they had carried out so far. Their progress was reviewed, and their views and suggestions on how to make the internship more meaningful and effective were also heard.
The students’ dual internships are mainly organized in two stages. First, they work with documentation at the organization, followed by direct participation in field activities and practical work.
Together with the students, the team examined water-saving technologies being applied in fields prepared for wheat planting, particularly the advantages of laser land levelling in improving soil and land reclamation conditions and significantly reducing water consumption.
The visit also included an inspection of a rehabilitated irrigation canal in a natural setting. Attention was given to improving the canal’s water-carrying capacity, reducing filtration losses, and developing students’ practical understanding of how the project can contribute to improving water supply in the area.
The visit and monitoring activities demonstrated that combining theory with practice is helping students develop a better understanding of the complete process, from working with documentation to directly observing and participating in field operations through to the final results.
