This department was established in 1934 as part of the Faculty of Hydro melioration and is currently active in the faculty of “Hydro technical Construction”. The department has been managed by various individuals over the years, including T.A. Kolpakova (1934-1969), S.K. Pereverzev (1969-1985), B.R. Uralov (1986-1999, 2005-2010), T. Sh. Majidov (1999-2004, 2010-2018), EK Kahn (April-December 2018), and currently by Dr. D.R. Bazarov since December 2018. The department has been involved in training specialists for the design, construction, operation, repair, and reconstruction of pumping stations and small and medium-sized hydroelectric power stations. Many professors, associate professors, senior teachers, assistants, and laboratory directors have contributed to this training. Currently, the department includes professors D.R. Bazarov, R.R. Ergashev, B.R. Uralov, N.I. Vatin; associate professors E.K. Kan, F.Sh. Shaazizov, B.E. Norkulov, F.Q. Artikbekova; senior teachers A.I.Azimov, A.A.Shadmanov; assistants G.S. Teplova, B.N. Shodiyev, O.F. Vahidov, J.I. Rashidov, N. Ismailov; L.A. Mahsudova; and laboratory managers B. Zorayev.

Among the scientists of the department, T.A. Kolpakova, S.K. Pereverzev, and V.P. Sudakov were honored as “Honored irrigator in Uzbekistan”, A.S. Saidkhodjaev as “Honored builder in Uzbekistan” and D.R. Bazarov was awarded with the badge "Excellence of Water Management of the Republic of Uzbekistan" and "Hydroenergy Pride". Currently, 16 professors-teachers of the department conduct lectures, practical and laboratory trainings in 11 subjects in undergraduate education and 10 subjects in master’s specialties. The laboratory of the department has 13 educational and 4 scientific research devices, 3 machine irrigation systems and a copy of the pumping device, parts of hydroelectric power plants, non-traditional energy sources (solar panels, solar collectors), equipment for starting the pumping device, various models and stents of hydropower devices and hydromachines.
