On April 6, 2023, a seminar-training was conducted at NRU “TIIAME,” featuring specialists from the French consulting company "SOFREKO." Currently, "SOFREKO" is implementing the European Union project titled "Technical Assistance for Technologies for Growing Fruits and Vegetables in the Republic of Uzbekistan." The international consultant for the project, Ruggiero Malossi, delivered a presentation on “The Importance of Drinking Water in Innovative Technologies for Processing Vegetables and the Standard Requirements of the European Union.” Local consultant Aktam Azizov provided a lecture on “Quality Indicators of Pomegranate Fruits and Technologies for Their Preservation.”


 During the seminar-training, participants discussed pertinent issues related to the storage and processing of products. Attendees received comprehensive answers to their inquiries. At the conclusion of the event, an agreement was reached to pursue cooperation between the university and the consulting company to advance collaboration at a new stage.

 

National Dialogue devoted to Women in Science

An international conference on the theme "The Role of Women in Science" was held from March 2-3, 2023, at the "Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers" National Research University. The conference was organized in partnership with several esteemed organizations, including "TIIAME" National Research University the UNESCO Office in Almaty, the Organization of Women in Science for Developing Countries, the National Commission for UNESCO of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, and its Representation in the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Research Institute "Family and Neighborhood," the Public Organization of the Republican Movement "Smart Women," the State University of World Languages of Uzbekistan, and Al-Farabi Kazakh National University.

 The conference commenced with opening remarks from Takhir Zokirovich Sultanov, the Vice-Rector of our university. Following this, several distinguished representatives delivered speeches, including Karima Norkulova, Vice-Chairman of the Family and Women's Committee; Elmurod Nazhimov, Chief Adviser of the National Commission of Uzbekistan for UNESCO; and Professor Oynisa Musurmonova.

The primary objective of the conference was to facilitate the exchange of experiences in achieving gender equality within the realms of science, technology, and innovation. This included a focus on promoting the accomplishments of women in political, economic, and social decision-making, as well as in sustainable development.

Discussions at the conference addressed the importance of ensuring the full and equal participation of women and girls in science, alongside strategies for achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls. The event was attended by prominent women in the fields of science and technology, including educators, students, and representatives from both state and non-state organizations.


Collaboration with NGOs on constitutional reforms

On March 26, 2023, in Kattakorgan, Samarkand region, Professor Zukhra Karabaevna Ismailova, a Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences and member of the "Marifat" Society of Propagandists, met with representatives of the Republican movement "Okila Ayollar" ("Smart Women"). The gathering included women activists from the region's mahallas, propagandists of spiritual and educational work, representatives from the "Buvijon" (“Grandmother”) school, as well as women entrepreneurs and officials from various sectors. The discussion focused on the topic "The Main Goal of Constitutional Reforms."



The draft Constitutional Law introduces 27 new articles to the current Constitution. The ongoing constitutional reforms in the country are founded on the noble principle of enhancing human dignity. Uzbekistan is committed to prioritizing the interests of its citizens in the implementation of these constitutional reforms.

Collaborations to improve the ecological situation in the Aral Sea region.

The cooperation between the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIAME) and the World Aral Region Charity (WARC) (https://www.aralregioncharity.org/) is focused on addressing environmental issues and engaging youth. As part of this partnership, a forum was held in Tashkent to mark the conclusion of the program. WARC organized this event jointly with TIIAME and plans to continue collaborative initiatives in the future.

Additionally, TIIAME graduate and undergraduate students are actively involved as members and volunteers of the WARC team. One of the WARC team members, Sirojiddin Jalilov, is a master's student at TIIAME specializing in "Hydraulics and Engineering Hydrology" and is also a member of the university's Academic Council.

This collaboration serves to facilitate experience exchange between TIIAME students and WARC members, implement joint projects to address environmental issues, and engage youth in ecological activism.

Collaboration with Nazar Business and Technology LLC in addressing environmental issues

The collaboration between Nazar Business and Technology LLC (NBT) (https://nbt.uz/) and the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIAME) is actively developing in the fields of education and scientific research. NBT specialists regularly conduct master classes and seminars at TIIAME, helping students enhance their practical knowledge and skills. (https://shorturl.at/d9Rj1)


Additionally, there is good news regarding the ongoing collaboration and experience exchange between NBT and TIIAME. Specifically, projects are being implemented in partnership with TIIAME's "Ecology and Law" faculty. Faculty members and students actively participate in NBT projects.

One of the faculty’s students, Komila Abduqodirova, successfully completed a one-year internship at our company. During this time, Komila demonstrated great interest in studying international environmental standards and participated in a grant program. The USAID Regional Water and Environment Project supported public discussions on international and national standards, further enhancing this collaboration!

This collaboration helps students strengthen their theoretical knowledge of climate issues through practical experience, improve the quality of scientific research, and enhance the qualifications of specialists in the field.




Collaborations in preparing educational materials for learning

As part of the USAID Regional Water and Environment Project, the NBT team, in collaboration with NRU "TIIAME" faculty, published a book titled "Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of Water Management Facilities."

This book is designed for undergraduate and graduate students, staff of the State Environmental Expertise under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of Uzbekistan, and outlines methodologies for implementing EIA in projects related to the environment and water management facilities, including those supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
