Access to Food Security Knowledge
Access to Food Security,
Sustainable Agriculture, and Aquaculture Knowledge at TIIAME NRU
TIIAME National Research
University (TIIAME NRU) is committed to providing local farmers and food
producers with essential knowledge, skills, and technologies in the fields of
food security, sustainable agriculture, and aquaculture. Through its academic
faculty and collaborative initiatives, the university actively supports the
agricultural community by offering training programs, workshops, and practical
guidance on sustainable farming techniques, climate resilience, and
aquaculture.
Training Local Farmers and
Food Producers
TIIAME NRU’s professors and
experts regularly engage with local farmers through educational programs
and outreach. These programs focus on a wide range of topics related to
sustainable agricultural practices, food security, climate-resilient farming
techniques, and eco-friendly aquaculture practices. The university’s faculty
from departments such as agriculture, agronomy, and environmental sciences
collaborate with local communities, providing hands-on training and expert
advice on modern farming methods that promote both economic viability and
environmental sustainability.
These educational activities
include:
- Workshops on Sustainable Agriculture: TIIAME
NRU organizes workshops and seminars focused on sustainable farming
practices, such as crop rotation, organic farming, water conservation,
soil management, and agroforestry. These programs help local farmers adopt
methods that increase productivity while minimizing environmental impact.
- Aquaculture Training: TIIAME NRU offers
specialized training in sustainable aquaculture practices, focusing on
efficient and environmentally friendly fish farming. These programs are
highly beneficial for local fish farmers aiming to improve productivity
and sustainability in aquaculture.
- Food Security and Climate Adaptation: The
university provides courses and workshops addressing how local farmers can
build resilience to climate change, ensure food security, and adapt their
agricultural practices to evolving environmental conditions. Topics
include managing water resources, reducing crop vulnerability to pests and
diseases, and implementing climate-smart agricultural practices.
Suvchilar Maktabi "Water Professionals School" Collaboration
As part of its efforts to promote sustainable agricultural practices, TIIAME NRU collaborates with Suvchilar Maktabi "Water Professionals School" , a national program focused on promoting water conservation and efficient water management in agriculture. Suvchilar Maktabi "Water Professionals School" was launched in 2023 with the goal of training local farmers and water users in sustainable irrigation techniques and water resource management.
TIIAME NRU professors are exclusively responsible for teaching in this program, ensuring that local farmers and agricultural professionals receive high-quality instruction. Suvchilar Maktabi "Water Professionals School" focuses on water conservation, efficient irrigation systems, and sustainable water usage—all crucial areas for addressing food security challenges and supporting sustainable farming in regions with water scarcity. Notably, only TIIAME NRU professors are involved in the delivery of the program; representatives from other universities are not included in this initiative.
"Water Professionals School" Training Courses Established in 11 Regions of the Republic
On May 29, 2023, the "Water Professionals School" project was launched in Uzbekistan, aimed at introducing water-saving technologies and methods in the agricultural sector.
As of August 31, training courses were organized in 116 districts across 11 regions of the country within the framework of the project. These courses attracted nearly 50,000 participants, including:
- 25,600 agricultural workers,
- 18,000 farmers, and
- 6,400 mirabs (water managers).

Technological Support for
Local Farmers
TIIAME NRU also promotes the
transfer of agricultural technologies to local food producers through
research collaborations and technology dissemination. The university’s
agricultural research projects focus on developing innovative solutions to
address common challenges in farming, such as pest control, soil fertility,
crop diversification, and sustainable aquaculture.
Furthermore, technology
transfer programs at TIIAME NRU ensure that local farmers are equipped with
the tools they need to adopt modern, efficient agricultural techniques. These
include the use of drones for crop monitoring, precision farming tools, and
data-driven technologies that optimize irrigation, fertilization, and pest
management.
TIIAME NRU plays a significant role in improving food security and promoting sustainable agriculture and aquaculture in the region. By providing training, educational resources, and access to cutting-edge agricultural technologies, the university helps local farmers and food producers enhance their productivity and sustainability. Through initiatives like Suvchilar Maktabi "Water Professionals School" , TIIAME NRU is making a lasting impact on the agricultural community, contributing to sustainable food systems, and addressing key challenges such as water management and climate adaptation.
TIIAME NRU’s active engagement in these efforts demonstrates the university’s commitment to fostering knowledge transfer, capacity building, and the overall development of sustainable agricultural practices in the region.
