A Special Session of Uzbek Universities moderated by “TIIAME” National Research University held at an International Congress in Istanbul

From June 16 to 19, 2025 the Global Sustainable Development Congress (GSDC 2025), one of the largest international scientific forums organized by the global ranking agency Times Higher Education (THE), is taking place in Istanbul. This congress brings together more than 5,000 academic institutions, universities, and specialists from around the world to discuss the potential of education and science within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and to strengthen international cooperation in these areas.
As part of this international forum, a special session titled “Uzbekistan Spotlight: Uzbek Universities’ Role in Advancing Green Energy and Industry” was organized with the participation of Uzbek universities. “TIIAME” National Research University played an active role in this session.
In particular, Ilhom Abdurahmanov, Head of the International Ranking Department at “TIIAME” National Research University, served as the moderator of the session. This highlights not only the scientific contributions of the university but also the high level of trust placed in it as an organizer.
During the session, representatives from leading higher education institutions of Uzbekistan presented initiatives carried out by their universities on pressing issues such as green energy resources, environmental protection, water resource management, industrial automation, and the integration of education with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Representing “TIIAME” National Research University, Ezozbek Ozodov gave a presentation on the university’s development of solar-powered agricultural technologies, AI-based irrigation systems and its research capacity. These innovations sparked great interest not only locally but also within the international scientific community.
At the conclusion of the session, Dr. Thomas Owen-Smith, an expert from the UK-based SUMS Consulting company, gave high praise to the developments proposed by “TIIAME” National Research University. He acknowledged Uzbekistan’s scientific potential in the field of green energy and expressed strong interest in exploring opportunities for cooperation in this area.
The participation of “TIIAME” National Research University in GSDC 2025 represents not only the promotion of scientific achievements but also a significant step in presenting Uzbekistan’s higher education system on the global stage.
