INSPIRATIONAL CONGRATULATIONS: A NATION WITH EDUCATED WOMEN IS HAPPY

#News from the press service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan

If we look at world history, there is no philosopher, speaker or poet, who has not spoken beautiful words about women. "Where there is no respect for women, there can be no true love," says George Byron. Jalal al-Din Rumi rightly states, "A woman is light; she is not just a beloved or a mother, but a creator."

Thus, women, who are the true foundation of this world, the source of life and creation, are not merely symbols of beauty but the essence and meaning of life.

The spirit of high respect and reverence for women was clearly expressed in the congratulatory speech of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the solemn ceremony dedicated to International Women's Day yesterday.

In recent years, ensuring the rights and interests of women, and honoring their dignity, has become a leading priority in the state policy of New Uzbekistan, which the President proudly highlighted in his speech. For example, in 2017, women made up an average of 20% of the administrative sector, but now that figure has increased to 35%.

Last year, female athletes from Uzbekistan’s delegation in the Olympic and Paralympic Games won a total of 3 gold, 8 silver, and 3 bronze medals, an unprecedented achievement in our history. Our girls are also raising the flag of Uzbekistan hi gh in the fields of culture and art. Last year, 25 talented young women won prestigious international competitions in culture and art, and 71 talented girls won national competitions, demonstrating their success.

Every year 50,000 women, who find themselves in difficult situations are sent to scenic places in the country for education and recreation. Psychological support is provided, and motivational seminars are organized to teach them entrepreneurial skills. This is because the health of women is the foundation of a healthy and strong society.

The President reminded us, "If we educate one girl, we educate the entire family. If the family is educated and enlightened, the consciousness and cultural level of society also rise."

Currently, women make up more than 52% of the students in Uzbekistan's 203 universities, which is the practical result of this noble idea. Just last year, nearly 15,000 women studying for a master's degree had their contract fees paid with nearly 100 billion soums. More than 6,200 women are currently engaged in scientific activities, and 25% of scientific developments are being created by female scientists, further solidifying their place in society. The presence of internationally recognized female representatives of science is a source of pride for all of us and motivates our youth to achieve new successes.

I consider such enterprising women, who take on great social responsibility, as "the builders of New Uzbekistan," and I express my deep gratitude to them. This sentiment is sure to inspire pride in anyone. While listening to the President’s congratulatory speech, I wanted to summarize some of the thoughts that arose from it.

The President noted that in recent years, the participation of women in state and society management has significantly increased. In particular, the proportion of women in state governance has risen from 27% to 35%, and Uzbekistan is now among the top five fastest-developing countries in terms of gender equality.

The President also paid special attention to expanding educational opportunities for women. The introduction of special admission quotas for girls at higher educational institutions is one of the significant steps in the education sector. This aims to raise women’s scientific and cultural levels and provide them with suitable employment opportunities.

According to President Mirziyoyev, educated, highly qualified women approach all matters in family, work, and public life with knowledge, awareness, and active participation. Therefore, it is important to open up avenues for women in science and professional fields.

The President also shared information about efforts to increase the level of children’s enrollment in pre-school educational institutions. It is planned to raise the enrollment rate in kindergartens to 60% by increasing the number of kindergartens. This will not only focus on children's education and upbringing but also positively influence the participation of parents, especially women, in the labor market.

President Mirziyoyev’s speech highlighted the consistent continuation of reforms aimed at protecting women’s rights and increasing their activity in society. These reforms aim to further enhance the place and significance of women in society. The President’s impactful speech inspired the nation, particularly our women, who drew strength and motivation from it.
