Abstract of master degree thesis (dissertation)

Subject. Development of measures for Zomin water reservoir reconstruction

Subject actuality. There is a lot of experience on operation of hydraulic structures in our country, but considering the fact that this experience is out of date, it is necessary to fulfill and use it in practice on the basis of present day scientific works. Therefore their reconstruction is an important task due to the use and deterioration of structures.

Goal and tasks of the work. To study Zomin water reservoir structures’ technical condition and their defects, to develop recommendations for water reservoir safe operation. These tasks will be achieved by field observations and analysis.

Research object and subject. Zomin water reservoir and structures on it.

Research methodology and methods. Developing conclusions on the basis of methods and methodology created in TIMI after analyzing field observations.

Scientific novelty degree of research results. Practical recommendations for reconstruction have been presented.

Practical value and implementation of research results. Developed recommendations can be used in the process of Zomin water reservoir operation,they will increase the reliability of hydraulic structures.

Work structure and content. Dissertation work consists of introduction, 3 chapter main part, conclusions, references and appendixes.

Main results of the conducted work. Water reservoir design filtration depression curve condition was determined, measuring weir was installed to determine seepage discharge, hydraulic structures’ emergency condition scenarios were developed, recommendations were developed for increasing the reliability of Zomin water reservoir hydraulic structures.

Conclusions and suggestions. Water reservoir structures’ defects were determined by field observations, recommendations for their fixing were given, water reservoir emergency condition scenario was developed, it’s reliability was estimated and water reservoir reconstruction measures were developed. Implementation of the recommendations will increase the water reservoir reliability.
